Landscape Ontario is looking to support our partner, Skills for Change, who are proposing a Pre-Apprenticeship Training Program, that will enable us to support more small- and medium-sized employers in training more apprentices that will enter the industry and profession across Ontario, so that we can access the skilled labour that we need and meet consumer demand.

SUPPORT LETTER
PRE-APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING PROGRAM 2021-2022
Dear Skills for Change,
Recently, our company was informed that the Government of Ontario has committed to fund Pre- Apprenticeship training programs to increase the number of entrants to the apprenticeship program. The Government’s plan will help address skilled trade shortages and provide employers, like us, with the skilled workforce we need.
We are pleased to confirm that [company name] is willing to (continue to) participate as an employer sponsor in the Women Horticulture Technician Pre-Apprenticeship Program. The proposed program will be led by Skills for Change in partnership with Landscape Ontario Horticultural Trades Association Workforce Development team and in-class Level 1 skills training provided by Humber College, pending approval of the proposal.
To ensure that all participants have safe work placement; we understand and confirm that our company complies with the following (please check off each item below):
- Have up to date WSIB coverage for employees
- Have up to date general third-party liability insurance coverage
- Ensure that all relevant labour legislation is adhered to and maintained
